Mesh Wi-Fi vs. Access Points for Small Business
Use mesh when cabling is difficult. Use Ethernet-connected access points when you can cable them and reliability matters more than installation convenience.

Why wired APs usually win
A wired access point gives client traffic a dedicated Ethernet path back to the network. That avoids using Wi-Fi airtime for backhaul and generally gives you more predictable capacity.
When mesh is the right answer
Mesh is useful where cabling is structurally restricted, cost-prohibitive or temporary. Current business mesh platforms can still provide centralized management, VLAN segmentation and seamless roaming.
The tradeoff
Wireless backhaul introduces throughput overhead because radios must carry both client traffic and backhaul. The impact grows with distance, interference and additional mesh hops.

If you can reasonably run Ethernet, design around wired APs. Use mesh selectively to solve coverage problems that are expensive or impractical to cable.
