Backblaze Business Backup Review 2026: Is It Right for Your Small Business?
Backblaze Business Backup has a simple proposition: protect each employee Mac or PC with automatic, unlimited cloud backup for a predictable per-computer price. That simplicity is its biggest strength—but it also defines the limits of where the product fits.
Our verdict
Backblaze Business Backup is a strong fit for small businesses that want straightforward workstation backup without having to size a storage pool. Backblaze currently lists Business Backup at $99 per computer per year and describes the service as unlimited, automatic backup for Mac and PC endpoints.
The tradeoff is scope. Backblaze Computer Backup should not be treated as a universal backup platform for every server, database, SaaS application or NAS. Backblaze specifically says NAS devices are not backed up by Computer Backup and instead points NAS customers to B2 Cloud Storage.
| Good fit | Think twice if |
|---|---|
| Employee Windows and Mac computers are the main backup target | You need one plan for servers, databases and NAS |
| You want predictable per-computer pricing | Your endpoint count is large enough that per-device cost becomes the main budget driver |
| You prefer automatic, low-touch workstation backup | You need a single bundled recovery design for many workload types |
| You want centralized Groups administration | You have not mapped your restore and retention requirements |

Backblaze Business Backup pricing in 2026
As checked August 29, 2026, Backblaze lists Business Backup at $99 per computer per year. Backblaze also describes monthly and two-year billing options, while its core business positioning remains per-computer rather than pooled storage.
That makes budgeting easy when you know the number of protected endpoints. Five computers at the published annual price would be $495 per year; 20 would be $1,980 per year. The important comparison is therefore device count versus workload breadth, not simply storage capacity.
What Backblaze Business Backup protects
Backblaze positions Business Backup as workstation protection for Mac and PC systems. Its current business signup materials describe native Mac and PC applications that automatically back up user files, and Groups let administrators manage employees, retention and restores from one account.
Directly attached external drives can also be included. Backblaze documents support for USB, FireWire and Thunderbolt external hard drives connected directly to the protected computer.
The NAS limitation matters
Backblaze Computer Backup does not back up network-attached storage. Backblaze directs NAS backup to B2 Cloud Storage, with integrations for platforms such as Synology, QNAP and TrueNAS.
This distinction matters for a small office with shared file storage. Backblaze can still be part of that business's backup strategy, but the workstation product and the NAS solution are different products with different planning considerations.
Version history and deleted files
Backblaze says Computer Backup includes 30 days of version history by default, with the option to enable one-year version history for free. Businesses that need longer retention can choose Forever Version History, which Backblaze currently prices at $0.006 per GB per month for versions older than one year.
Retention deserves explicit configuration. A backup service can be working perfectly while still failing the business if an overwritten or deleted file is discovered after the available history has expired.
Restore options
Backblaze supports online restores and also documents a Restore by Mail option for larger recoveries. Its current restore page lists an encrypted-capable USB hard drive restore of up to 8 TB for $279, with a return-and-refund program when the drive is returned within the stated window.
For any business, test the recovery process before an emergency. Restore a representative folder, document who has permission to recover data, and estimate how long a large recovery would take over the office internet connection.
Administration for business fleets
Backblaze Groups provide centralized administration for multiple users and computers. Backblaze also expanded its enterprise-oriented administration with features such as OIDC SSO and enhanced controls, and in 2026 announced an Advanced Installer and command-line interface aimed at more controlled endpoint deployment and management.
Those capabilities make Backblaze more manageable than treating every employee account as an isolated consumer backup subscription, while the core product remains intentionally workstation-focused.
Where Backblaze is strongest
- Simple pricing. $99 per protected computer per year is easy to model.
- Unlimited workstation data. You do not have to choose a storage tier for each protected computer.
- Automatic endpoint backup. The product is designed to run with little day-to-day user involvement.
- Centralized Groups management. Administrators can manage multiple users and computers from one account.
- Useful retention choices. One-year version history can be enabled free, with a longer Forever option available.
Where Backblaze may not be the best fit
It is not a one-product answer for every workload. Businesses with NAS, server, database or SaaS backup requirements need to evaluate those separately rather than assuming “Business Backup” covers everything.
Per-computer pricing scales with endpoint count. That is predictable, but a larger fleet should compare the total annual cost with pooled-storage or other licensing models.
Unlimited storage does not replace recovery planning. Retention settings, restore permissions, bandwidth and recovery time still determine whether the backup strategy works during an incident.
Backblaze Business Backup vs. IDrive Business
| Question | Backblaze Business Backup | IDrive Business |
|---|---|---|
| Primary pricing model | Per protected computer | Pooled storage tiers |
| Workstation backup | Very straightforward | Supported as part of broader coverage |
| NAS in the same core plan | No; Backblaze points NAS to B2 | Business materials list NAS support |
| Mixed servers/databases/NAS | Requires additional product planning | Better first comparison |
| Main planning issue | Endpoint count and workload scope | Storage capacity and renewal cost |
For a business made mostly of employee laptops and desktops, Backblaze's narrower scope can actually be an advantage. For a business trying to consolidate many workload types under one backup account, IDrive Business is the more natural first comparison.
Who should consider Backblaze Business Backup?
Put Backblaze near the top of the shortlist if your environment is primarily Windows and Mac employee computers, you want automatic cloud backup, and predictable per-device pricing is easier to manage than estimating a shared storage pool.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Backblaze Business Backup cost?
At our August 29, 2026 check, Backblaze lists Business Backup at $99 per computer per year. Verify current pricing before purchasing.
Is Backblaze Business Backup unlimited?
Backblaze advertises unlimited data backup for each protected computer. Licensing remains per computer, so “unlimited” refers to backed-up data rather than unlimited endpoints.
Can Backblaze back up a NAS?
Not through Computer Backup. Backblaze says NAS backup should use B2 Cloud Storage instead.
How long does Backblaze keep deleted files?
Backblaze documents 30 days of version history by default, with one year available to enable for free and a paid Forever option for longer retention.
Bottom line
Backblaze Business Backup is compelling precisely because it does not try to be everything. For ordinary business Macs and PCs, its automatic backup, unlimited data and predictable per-computer pricing make it easy to understand. The key is recognizing where the workstation product ends and where separate server, NAS or SaaS protection begins.
